Final Blog

I found that money is the main popular culture of all time because money makes the world go round. (giggle) Money is needed everywhere. People will kill and die for money just so and repeat itself all over again. We ask ourselves each day what do we live for but it was under our nose the entire time. We can be happy with out the next dollar because it give us nice things and helps us stay alive. Without money the world would not be in order. That is what we live for.

My essay

I feel like I am ready because I have been trained on how to organize my paper and with all the other essays we have wrote it will be a piece of cake. I want my audience to see that children around the world are effected by what they see on television. I want the readers to get mad and want to change the problem. Its alot of bad children walking around seeing things on tv that are for adults eyes only and began to grow up to fast just because they think its the right thing to do. Its not and the problem should be stopped before its too late. I plan on reaching the audience emotionally and informatively because what better way to get through to someone than their hearts.

As I read "Writing about popular culture" I realize that I use most of the  10 essays for each of my papers,. I used argumentive essay when I am trying to persuade people to join my side and I use cause and effect to show how things are effected through life. In the sample essay  felt that it used research essay just because it gave alot of cited information and its mission is to persuade and inform the reader. I use these ten in my writing just to guide me on my purpose of writing and to make sure I stay on the right track by using the right essay.

Scary Movies

The pop culture of this week was scary movies. I was with my mother and we went to see "Slither". I have never been so scared in my mind! Just by the thought of the movie being scary I can't believe that people still go as far as still watching the movies. I think its because it builds up our

adrenaline and makes want it more. I like scary movies but I knoiw that its the last thing I want to do by myself.

Tattoos

This week I have witness the love of tattoos. Everybody get tattoos  now days. I think they get a pleaser out of pain. I got two tattoos on my own but after the second one I realized its not for me anymore. its crazy how it happens. You sit there and imprint something on your body that ill be there forever. One day will get another tattoo in the future but for now the pain will remind me of why i will never return.

 One of the sources I found is some what helpful. Its very difficult to find perfect sources that are reliable for my topic. My topic is instagram and if children under the age of 18 should get on. I pick a witnesss who talks about how her child is not safe to get on line and see those kind of things because it influencing and very bad for her eyes to see.I wanted to fing more scsles of children being persuade to do wrong from instagram and more witness saying how it should and not be blocked for children.

Instagram

The pop culture I have found this weekend was instagram. Every one today and my generation finds the joy of taking pictures for the world to see. They believe that they are wonderful pictures of their lives that everyone should see. I find it kind of funny when people post pictures of their meal they had that night and hope that people would like it. I find it very funny when people take a picture of themselves hoping fresh out the bed one morning to take a picture of themselves and post it on instagram. I dont find it a pretty site to see those kinds of things but in todays society its amazing and it should be praised. More and more people do it now and thats how the cookie crumble.

citing

When I first start citing I was horrible! i didn't have a clue on what I was doing but before no body readlly corrected me hard until I came to college. All I knew how to use was MLA formate because my 12 grade teacher was very strict on it. When I first got an F for my citations in college thats when I knew I was horrible at it. After a while i have gotten better at it because I talk to the teacher about it and I check them from my booklet that the teachers give me. I also go to the writing center just to make sure that my work is right. I am still learning each day at a time so hopeful I would have it profected but in the end it still give me a huge headache.

Pop culture Oct 13.

This week I have had the pleaser of food! Food has been the joy of my week and you know whats my favorite?--Mexican food. I love tacos, burritos, and nachos! Whoever designed dis mixture of ingredients must really loved me. I have learned that everybody have a favorite type of food and it dont matter if it mexican food, chinese food, or even Italian because food is all around us and is the main source of the world. The way people cook describes who they are and what they love. I really admire the creations and each day I make my own and hope to find that certain taste that someone else will magically enjoy.

The search

I look up and found many sources that was helpful for my topic but most of them were not reliable. I lookd everywhere but I know that there is some where that is relible with this topic so I went to the MTSU library sight and found many books and articles about my topic. They had many ratings and quotes from many people exactly how I wanted so it was very exicting to know that resources are out the for my topic. One article had a point of view from one of the victums of planned marriage, which is my topic. She explained her feelings and what she ent though with her family. All of this was very  tiring and difficult but in the end it was worth it all.

Homecoming

The pop culture I found this week was Homecoming spirit. I have had the pleasure of experiencing it for MTSU. I went to the step show and the parade. Everybody seem excited for this main events because its when everyone can come together for their school and show how much spirit they have. It dont matter if you walking in the parade or maybe even in the parade but the fact is that you are there supporting the school. I really feel that many people are proud to be true blue and it dont matter how you celebrate it because it all about your presents and joy.

Oct 4.

"A Shadow Scholar" is a guy that sits around and does other peoples work for a living. I really call that cheating and I know many people who does that today and still thinks nothing wrong of it. He was mainly the scholar who shadows others peoples work. How I organize my npapers is easy. I read my sources I jot down key points that stuck out to me the most and cite it. Then I write down my point of view and then figure out what are my three body point that would work the best. I always do my conclusion and thesis last because that is the most difficult part for me ever sine middle school. My teacher use to say my thesis was the worst. But now I go to the writing center and I have other people proof read my work before I turn it in. That is totally different from what the "Shadow Scholar" did.

Style

This week I discovered that alot of people have different styles. It may be how they talk or maybe even how they walk but one style that stickes out to me the most is clothing. Me and my mother when shopping today and each time she picked up an outfit for me I squenched my face an nodded no. (giggle) Me and my motheres taste of clothing is totally different but if you look at it everybody is different in their on natural way. I was walking the other day and I saw this women wearing green pants a red belt yellow shoes with a cream blouse. My friend thought it was cute but I though it a hobble choice in colors but im not the one wearing it so I cant judge. Either it dont matter if you wear rain boots on a sunny day, your style is how you are personally because it express you. Thats my pop culture for this week.

This year I have just been working hard to be better than last year because last year I was very unfocused. I have been studying more and trying to find different programs that could help me reach my goal. For english I've made sure that went to the writing center at least three times before the paper is done and I hope it have shown in my paper. For all my other classes I have signed up for tutoring and I have made sure that I studied twice as hard for each exam. I have been very focused on my goal and my goal is to graduate with a g.p.a higher than a 3.5 and I know I will get there. This class has taught me about organizing papers and addressing my point in an argument. Now its time for me to agree with both sides. Im a little nerves for this one and thats because I have to explain two totally different points. But I know with my hard work and dedication, it will be done.

After reading those articles about tv and how people are so into watching their favorite shows that they miss out on for half of their lives; it makes me realize that tv is the main pop culture. Everyday I come home and the first thing I grab it the tv remote. Its kind of like a habit that I don't choose to break. Many people are addicted to tv and don't even realize it. Its kind of like a cell phone because most people cant live right without it. I know when I am away from my phone for more than 10 minutes I would lose my head. Tv is taking over. It is starting to change the world because whatever people see on tv they will think its true and will try to live their lives like the shows the see. For instance Barney, the kids show, every child believes in him and thinks that dinosaurs still exsist. Same for other shows like law and order, people would think that the world is crazy and unsafe because of the crimes they see on the show. Tv is everything and people will live their entire lives through it without even trying.

This topic really tickled me because both Johnson and Stevens article were convicing. johnson claimed that intelligence is all through TV and that it takes alot of brain work to keep up with a show. Steven explained that even in the old days we had better since then to watch tv and get some knowlede. She went on saying that Johnson article had made no sense. She went on talking bout "social relationships" saying that it represent foil. I was a little confused by that statement but I later relized that she argues that even though tv so serious its still hilarious. Overall both articles gave good point like narrative theads and nd paying attention to the plots. Basically Steven article was to argue that tv is for entertainment and fun and not just to "manage resources".If I can choose a side I would chove Steven's because tv isn't that serious.

Today I woke up rushing because I had to go to majorette try-outs. As I got dress I couldnt help to think about what happen the night before. The night before we threw a party at my apartment for some student at MTSU and everybody was dancing and having a gud time like usual but this specific night I relized everybody had their own dance. These people were coming up with dance moves I have never seen before. I noticed that it was all because of their background and where they came from. Back in Africa they dance in a tradional way to show appreciation for their land, Indians dance in a circle together to chat to spiritual gods, and we dance to show our background and how "we get down" haha.I relized that everybody have their own style of dancing and it really don't matter where you come from because at the end of the day we all dance as one. That was my pop culture dor today--the different style of dance.

When  I first saw "shitty first drafts" I cracked up laughing because the title to me tells it all. It shows that everyones first draft is the worst in everyway. I know when I draft for the first time I do exactly how she explained it because I would roll my sleeves up and shake my head just to verify that I was ready to create a master piece. Unfortunatly, I was lying to myself because when the paper was done it looked like a child wrote it or that my thoughts should have stayed in my head. In the first draft about the TV, I felt the writer left alot of their opinion in question. they gave enough evidence but not enough character. I just wish they added themselves into the paper more because I easily became bored but thats just my opinion.

pop culture today

Yesterday I was driving with my mother to go back to nashville to see my family. She began to dance to this song on the radio and I remember asking her "what do you know about this song?" She giggle and told me that it was her new favorite song. Then I realized that new has became the new old. Older people are beggining to listen to younger people music and enjoy it. It use to be the older folks asking the younger kids what do the know about their music, but now its the other way around. The pop culture of this week is music. Music is starting to stimulate older peoples minds. Our music is also starting to reverse the staticstis of older traditions. I've learned that in todays society we are all living the same lives but at different times.

For class

When I wake up in the morning I get dressed, brush my teeth, do my hair, then grab all my books for each class and pack them up in my book bag. I wake up with a goal to accomplish so everytime I set out to class I plan my day around that goal hoping that I will suceed it before the day is finished. When im in class I stay to myself most of the time because when im learning I have to stay at attention or I will miss something. In class discussions I engage in the conversation sometimes but I am a very shy person when I am not comfortable in a eviorment yet so I dont speak out loud in class unless the teacher ask me too personally. I know that its important to my grade and important for me because it helps me know and understand what I learn better. One day I will beat my shyness but until then Im going to work on it and hope that it will get better.

In Steve Johnson's Article

In Steve Johnson's article "Watching Tv Makes You Smarter" he talks about how in certain television shows there are different hints in those shows that help people get the message or the important plots. He points out different shows like Hill street blue to Scream. In Scream he showed how it give you hints on where the killer was present or where it would be present like in Scream they used  arrows to the unlocked door: showing that the killer will go through that door. I agree with Johnson in his article because he believed that in this pop culture tday people see what they want to see or what they want to be seen. In many tv shows they might have many topics but it's always going to be a main topicand  its just up to the audience to identify what it really is. It's the same in art, you see what you feel in the painting that may be the true meaning. Whatever the meaning might be is only up to the minds of the viewer. Johnson believes that people can visualize whats hot and whats not in their generation by finding the right show that draws their attention. Tv is just entertainment to the mind and a way to expand its different point of views and that is what Johnson wanted to get across.What can you bring out of a tv show and how do it relate to your world?

Pop Culture can be many things from hip hop music to the hotest shoes in fashion history. Pop culture is whatever that is in;hip,in style. My pop culture would be soul music. U can never it tired of soul music ad most people enjoy it. It sets the mood and it travels through generation to generation. This culture today is interest in many things so anything could stick out as bein pop. Pop comes from the whole word popular so when you think of popular culture you will began to weigh out what is hot and what is not. Soul music will never go out of still unlike fur boots or certain dance moves. Pop culture is in anybody and whatever that person feel is popular then that will be pop culture. What do you see being your pop culture?

A Challenge

When I was 7 I would go to church and watch the older kids dance and paise the lord on the praise dance team. I always wanted to express myself through a way that didnt need any words so I decided that maybe I could accomplish that through dance. Back in the day I was stiff and barely had any rythm. (haha) Some of my friends would tease me all the time on how i would pick up on moves so slow. So after a while I gave up on dance completely. When I turned fifthteen and finally reached high school I joined the cheerleading team. All of a sudden the feel of dance and how it use to make me feel just start coming back to me. Thats when I joined the majorette team and the church praise team again just so I could be better then what I was wen I was 7. I would began to practice and work out everyday just so I can train my body and my mind on the moves until it finally became natual to me. Thats when I relized that just because you cant do something right then and there doesnt mean it can never be done. It just takes time, patients, and hard dedication. Just like Gerald Graff, he disliked books when he was a child but when he grew up he started to like reading books and became a teacher of liteture. So my point is, everything might be a challenge at first and people will disagree or agree with your views but if you put hard work into something that you believe in then you can achieve it and you will be heard.

A Piece of Me for You

Hello everyone! I'm Wayuana Demonbreun from Nashville, TN. I really dont blog but i am very interested into trying new things so here it go. There is alot of things that many people might not know about me and thats ok so here is a chance to know a tiny piece of me. I am not a normal writer. I write from the top of my head and what ever that is created on paper is the truth and nothing but the truth.(giggles) I am a goofy and playful kind of of girl who enjoys life through all its many flaws. My favorite thing to do in this world is to dance. Dancing is my life! I use to do the whole nine like cheering, majorette, church dance team, and all the way to hiphop and jazz crew. I've been dancing ever since I was 7 but I never relized that it was something I loved or had a passion for until I was 13 dancing to gospel music at my church. Other things I enjoy are going to the movies with my mom, singing in the shower, and other normal things like travel the world to see chris brown or Trey songz in concert. I am just a girl who has a plan in life and dont mind to experience new thing and to express myself on the way. With me and research argument, its kind of complicating because I can write but when it comes to organization and grammar, I fail! I do need more work in my writing but thats why I am taken the class so that I can write my stories and every would understand the COMPLETE ME.
